Arnold Palmer's Open triumph in 1962 saw some of the finest golf not only of the celebrated American's illustrious career but in the championship's long history.

A celebrated feature of the layout is the 'Postage Stamp', the short bunker-ringed eighth at which, in 1973, Gene Sarazen, then 71, famously holed in one. Troon is considered the finest jewel in the glittering necklace of superb courses girdling a 20 mile arc of Ayrshire coast. The etching captures the dramatic sweep of sky, sea, dune and grass that characterises links golf.
